Westshore cities’ cooperation topic of LWV forum

WESTSHORE

The Westshore Council of Governments, the group of six area municipalities that work together on common issues, will be the topic of an upcoming forum in Bay Village.

Sponsored by area chapters of the League of Women Voters, the forum will take place at 7 p.m. April 16 at the Dwyer Senior Center, 300 Bryson Lane.

Bay Village, Fairview Park, North Olmsted, Lakewood, Rocky River and Westlake make up the Westshore Council of Governments. Four of the six – Bay Village, Rocky River, Westlake and Fairview Park – are actively contemplating the creation of a regional fire district.

At the forum, Westlake Mayor Dennis Clough will discuss the history of the COG, and Lakewood Mayor Mike Summers will talk about current collaboration efforts. COG finance officer Steve Presley will discuss operational aspects of the group.

The April 16 forum is the second of three planned forums sponsored by the League of Women Voters. The first, which took place in March, examined regionalism from the county perspective. The third forum, planned for June 19 at the Fairview Park Branch Library, will focus on the proposed regional fire district.
