UPDATE (Friday, April 29): Clark Parkway was reopened by Friday morning.

WESTLAKE: A large tree, weakened by strong winds overnight, collapsed across Clark Parkway Thursday afternoon around 2 p.m., bringing down electrical wires and causing a minor house fire.

The tree pulled electrical wires away from the house, which caused them to short and start a small fire and smoke, Westlake Fire Chief Dale Kraus said. Damage inside the house was not extensive, he said. No one was injured, the chief said.

Clark Parkway was closed near the intersection with Westwood Road. Westlake Fire Department units were on hand as a precaution while they waited for Illuminating Company officials to fully disconnect the power.
