WESTLAKE – The Westlake City Schools and its teachers union have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract, Superintendent Dan Keenan said Tuesday afternoon. The union and school board are expected to vote separately on the pact Wednesday. Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed.
The Westlake Schools Board of Education will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday the Westlake Schools Administration Building at 27200 Hilliard Boulevard. After an executive session, board members are expected to vote on the teachers contract. The board will also discuss placing an operating levy on the ballot in the spring, according to the meeting notice released by the district.
Teachers had been working without a contract since Dec. 31, when the previous pact expired. The district is currently in negotiations the union representing its classified, or non-teaching employees.
