NFL Punt, Pass and Kick Youth Flag Football is an event where kids ages 6-15 have a chance to learn the rules of football in a friendly playing environment. This year it was held Sept. 22 at the Westlake Recreation Center.
“It gives them an opportunity to showcase their various football skills against other kids,” Westlake Recreation Center Director James Dispirito said. “It’s open to everyone, so it gives everyone a chance.”
The NFL has a lot of involvement with aspiring young football players. This program in particular has been running for many years. It is part of the NFL’s Play 60 and flag football programs, an initiative to get American youth to play actively for at least 60 minutes a day.
According to Dispirito, the main goal of NFL Punt, Pass and Kick is to get outside and be active in a controlled environment while focusing on physical fitness.
