UPDATE (Friday, April 29): Westwood Road was reopened Thursday afternoon, Westlake Police said.
WESTLAKE: A downed power line has caused Westlake Police to close a section of Westwood Road just east of Clauge Road Thursday. A blown-down tree on the south side of the street caused the electrical wires to come down.
According to Capt. Guy Turner, the first call of the downed wire came in at 5:15 a.m. Thursday. At around 2.p.m., an employee of The Illuminating Company was at the location keeping people away from the live wires and awaiting a repair crew.
Traffic lights were out at the intersection of Westwood and Clague roads. Police had activated STOP signs at the intersection.
