Westlake Chatter – July 13, 2011

DOG WALK: Bring your dog for a group dog walk at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. The pack walk – choose either one or 3.5 miles — begins at Wagner’s Country Inn, 30855 Center Ridge Road, Westlake. Later, brunch will be served for both canines and humans from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the event’s organizer, Grateful Dog Bakery, 31966 Center Ridge Road, in North Ridgeville. The cost is $15 per person and dog. Brunch alone costs $10 per person and dog, with $5 each additional dog. Proceeds benefit Fido’s Companion and Ziggy’s Friends. Call (440) 353-1990 to register.

HISTORICAL BRICKS: The deadline for purchasing an engraved brick for the soon-to-be-built Founders Walk in Clague Park is Monday. The walk, a bicentennial project to commemorate Westlake’s early settlers, will be made out of bricks from the demolished old red brick schoolhouse that stood on Dover Center Road.

Bricks can be purchased for $60 through either the Westlake Historical Society (at westlakeohiohistory.org) or the Westlake Kiwanis (at westlakekiwanis.org).

ANTIQUE SHOW: The Westlake Historical Society’s annual Antique, Vintage and Craft Show is Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the organization’s headquarters at 1371 Clague Road.

The show includes antique and craft vendors, a plant sale and a snack bar. Tours of the historic Clague House Museum start at noon.

Engraved bricks for the Founders Walk at Clague Park will be sold during the show.
