Warm up to winter with the new seasonal menu specialties offered at these area restaurants.
The winter menu at Two Bucks in North Olmsted is sure to comfort you in this cold weather.
Start your meal with a bowl of three-onion gratinee soup or house-made potato chips topped with shaved ribeye steak and melted bleu cheese. Warm mushroom salad is topped with smoked Gouda cheese and bacon vinaigrette. Bistro filet stroganoff is served over garlic mashed potatoes. The Southern bacon burger is a half-pound of beef topped with melted cheddar cheese and bacon onion marmalade. Finally, for dessert, there is hot chocolate crème brulee.

Seasonal specials at the Winking Lizard restaurant in Avon, 32045 Detroit Rd., include appetizers of spicy Buffalo chicken dip and fried calamari rings served with house marinara sauce. Yuengling lager and panko-breaded scallops are served with Asian Yuzu dipping sauce. The grilled pot roast sandwich is served on sourdough bread with melted American cheese, grilled onions and mushrooms and brown gravy. Grilled meatloaf is topped with Muenster cheese, portabella mushrooms and caramelized onions on sourdough bread. The mac and cheese burger is a half-pound of beef topped with fried macaroni and cheese wedges, melted cheddar and applewood smoked bacon on ciabatta bread.

Warm up with Southern-fried to order at SoHo Kitchen and Bar’s weekly “Chicken Scratch” on Wednesday night. All-natural, Ohio-raised chicken is offered by the piece, with mild or spicy breading. Choose from a drumstick ($2.50), wing ($1.50), thigh ($3.50) or whole chicken breast ($4.50).Add side dishes like smoky macaroni and cheese, red eye cole slaw, spicy collard greens, jalapeno hush puppies, mashed potatoes with bourbon gravy or cornbread waffles with Ohio maple syrup for an additional $3.50 each.
Chef Nolan Konkoski’s regular menu is also available. Duck gumbo with shrimp and andouille sausage is topped with crisp duck cracklings. The slow-roasted pork sandwich is topped with red eye cole slaw and bacon-jalapeno jam. Winter entrees include shrimp and grits, grilled flat iron steak with sunnyside egg and Tabasco hollandaise sauce, crab-crusted rainbow trout and autumn pot pie with root vegetables and truffled gravy.
