‘Walk and Dine’ supports historic downtown redevelopment

Sneak a peek at some of downtown’s hottest residential developments and enjoy some great food and entertainment along the way.

The 17th annual Walk and Dine in the Gateway District is from 5:30 to 11 p.m. on July 16. This year’s event includes a visit to the Metropolitan at The 9, located at the intersection of East 9th Street and Euclid Avenue. Tourgoers can also see a unit at the Osborn Apartments on Huron Road, some of the beautifully renovated guest rooms at the Hyatt Regency Cleveland at The Arcade, and one- and two-bedroom model apartments at Residences at 1717, a new luxury property with dramatic views, located at 1717 E. 9th St. Preview The Ivory on Euclid, historically identified as the Truman Building, where a well-known Cleveland building is being turned into residential and retail property.

Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. at the 5th Street Arcades, 530 Euclid Ave., where guests pick up their tour identification buttons and itinerary. Tours begin at 6:30 p.m. and guests may choose to tour the sites on their own or with a tour guide.
Restaurants will provide culinary sampling at the tour sites. For the first time, participants will have an opportunity to sample the cuisine of Adega, the upscale modern Mediterranean-inspired eatery located in the Metropolitan at The 9. Other restaurants serving samples are Al’s Deli, 1890 at The Arcade, The Corner Alley, Flannery’s Pub, House of Blues, Restaurants at 5th Street Arcades, The Tudor Arms Events, a Doubletree by Hilton, The Winking Lizard and Zocalo Mexican Grill. At the end of the tour, a dessert reception will take place at Pickwick & Frolic Restaurant, with live music by Audi Sharif.

Comfortable shoes are recommended for walking, although trolleys will be available. Tickets are $60 each. All proceeds go toward promoting the continuing redevelopment of the historic Gateway District. Phone 216-771-1994 or visit www.clevelandgatewaydistrict.com.

Dine out and help residents of St. Augustine Health Campus spend a week camping at Camp Cheerful in Strongsville.

In order to pay for their “summer vacation,” St. Augustine is holding a few “Dine to Donate” days at area restaurants. Supporters can go to the restaurants during the specified dates and times, present the appropriate flier and have a percentage of their bill donated to St. Augustine’s Happy Campers Week.

Chipotle, 14881 Detroit Ave. in Lakewood, is the featured restaurant on July 24, 4 to 8 p.m. It has agreed to donate 50 percent of its proceeds to St. Augustine. Visit Applebee’s at 20705 Center Ridge Road in Fairview Park on July 29, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and 15 percent of your tab will go toward the Camp Cheerful trip. Angelo’s Pizza, 13715 Madison Ave. in Lakewood, is donating 20 percent of its profits on July 30, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Phone 216-939-7711 for more information, or visit www.staugministries.org to download a flier.
