Visitors and residents of Normandy Manor had the chance to browse and purchase works by local artists on Aug. 9 at the senior residence’s fourth annual art show. “It just keeps getting bigger every year,” commented activities director Tammy Danilovic, as she guided residents and guests through the busy show. The artwork and crafts ranged from large paintings to watercolors, sketches and fabric work. Showgoers also snacked on a wide assortment of refreshments and listened to harp music.
Joan Query, who has volunteered at Normandy for 18 years, exhibited her wide range of work, which included drawings, prints and a fabric piece depicting nearby Bradstreet’s Landing. The burlap-based wall hanging was made of actual items the artist found at the beach, including shells and sea glass. While some of her art was for sale, she quickly told an inquirer that the wall hanging was not among the offerings. ”I’ve been doing this all my life,” said Query, who called Normandy her “second home.”
