At 7 p.m. Saturday, Disney Channel star Peyton List will take the stage for a holiday music performance. Following her performance, Santa will arrive to magically light up Crocker Park for the season with a spectacular holiday light show.

St. Mary Magdalene Church celebrating 50th anniversary

St. Mary Magdalene Byzantine Catholic Church will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its founding on Sunday, Nov. 20. A Hierarchical Divine Liturgy will take place at 3:30 p.m. celebrated by his Grace, Metropolitan Archbishop William C Skurla, Apostolic Administrator of the Byzantine Catholic Eparchy of Parma.

Professor to explain ‘why life sucks’

A native of New Delhi, India, who came to the U.S. in 1992, Param Srikantia spent years studying Eastern philosophies of life that have been largely forgotten. He will give a free talk on these philosophies titled “Why Life Sucks: Enjoying the Lightness of Being” at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at Cuyahoga Community College’s Westshore Campus, 31001 Clemens Road, in Westlake.
