Documentary examines kids’ overuse of smartphones, video games

“Screenagers: Growing Up In the Digital Age” was made by Delaney Ruston, a Seattle-area physician, filmmaker and mother who worried about the impact excessive screen time was having on her two children. Her 14-year-old son wanted to play more and more video games, and her 12-year-old daughter seemed to be on social media constantly. After speaking with other parents, she realized that they, too, were concerned about children’s screen time but unsure about how to impose limits.
