Westlake High School was recently named a International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. Through a shared services partnership, IB courses taught at Westlake High School will be open to students from partner public school districts in Avon Lake, Berea and Rocky River.
Due to an editing error, an article in the Jan. 28 issue of West Life incorrectly stated that Superintendent Geoff Palmer’s state of the schools report is this Tuesday. Palmer’s state of the schools talk took place last Tuesday, Jan. 27. An article on Palmer’s remarks will appear in the Feb. 4 issue of West Life. West life regrets the error.
Money raised through permanent improvement levies can only be used for capital projects with an expected life of five years of greater. Examples are building repairs; technology infrastructure, such as computers and networks; and safety and security enhancements. Permanent improvement dollars may not be used to pay employees’ salaries and benefits.
The Ohio Democratic Party can recover from its disastrous showing in statewide elections this past fall, and it new chairman, David Pepper, said he has a plan to do so. Pepper shared his plan with the Westlake Democratic Club at its Jan. 20 meeting at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 25.
