Several options under consideration for upgrade of elementary schools

Officials from the Westlake City Schools and Lesko Architects, a consultant, presented several scenarios for upgrading the district’s elementary school buildings at a public meeting at the auditorium of Parkside Intermediate School Oct. 23. But Interim Superintendent Geoff Palmer wants residents to know that nothing has been predetermined.

Porter sets goals for future

The library’s strategic plan was developed with the aid of a consultant after interviews with community stakeholders and a user survey.

Senior residence director indicted on 19 counts

Christina Melaragno, 41, was indicted Tuesday by a Cuyahoga County grand jury on six county of burglary, six counts of theft, six counts of drug possession and one count of trafficking. The grand jury also indicted her on one count of possession of criminal tools for allegedly using a cell phone related to the trafficking charge. All counts are felony-level charges.

Porter introducing new catalog inventory system

Westlake Porter Public Library in the process of implementing the latest technology when it comes to library inventory management. Under the new system, scheduled to go into service later this month, the barcodes are replaced with radio frequency identification, or RFID, tags.
