The Westlake Planning Commission voted 5-0 June 6 against recommending the roundabout plan to City Council. Council will likely approve the other option under consideration, a widening of both Canterbury and Center Ridge roads to add turning lanes.
Westlake City Schools teachers have scheduled a strike vote for today (June 15) after the Board of Education voted 4-1 Monday night to implement its “last, best and final” contract offer that the union had soundly rejected.
Several locations have been suggested as the site for a new community services center: the spot of the current center at Center Ridge and Crocker roads, city-owned property next to Westlake Porter Public Library, the Westlake Recreation Center site, and property owned by the Westlake City Schools, such as Parkside School, should that site become available for purchase.
Water service will be the topic of a June 14 City Council committee meeting, set to begin at 7 p.m. An ordinance to expand the work of engineering consultant Brandstetter Carroll, which had its second reading before council June 2, will be reviewed.
