Superintendent Dan Keenan recommended, and all five board members agreed, that the district survey community members regarding why the levy failed. The district needs to listen to and learn from the community before any thought is given to making another attempt at passing a levy in November, Keenan said.

Levy needed to maintain quality, school backers say

The 5.9-mill operating levy for the Westlake City Schools will cost homeowners an additional $15 per month for every $100,000 of property value beginning next year. The levy is expected to raise a little more than $8 million annually.
