Incumbent Mayor Debbie Sutherland will face former city firefighter Marty Mace in the November general election after the two led the for-person in primary voting.
With all precincts reporting, Sutherland had 1299 votes or about 45 percent of the votes. Mace had 940 votes or about 35 percent. Former city police officer Dave Volle had 549 votes and substitute teacher Claire Banasiak had 71 votes. Sutherland led the tallies in all four city wards and the absentee balloting.
After the votes were in, Sutherland said she appreciated the support.
“It’s very hard in an election with that many candidates to get above 35 percent of the votes,” she said. “I appreciate getting all the support I did and we will continue to work hard and we will win in November.”
