Lions Club Fishing Derby
The Avon Lions Annual Fishing Derby will take place June 7 at Northgate Park-Avon Community Park located at 2155 Eaton Drive in Avon. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Fishing runs from 8-10 a.m. The derby is free of charge and open to all boys and girls. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Door prizes will be awarded at the conclusion of the derby, starting at roughly 10:15 a.m. The grand prize is use of the Lake Erie Crushers loge, sponsored by the Avon Parks and Recreation Department. Avon High School summer youth camps
Registration is now open for Avon High School summer youth camps, including boys and girls basketball, football and volleyball. All camps are coached by Avon High School coaches and players. Go to https://www.cityofavon.com/index.php/departments/parks-and-recreation/online-registration to sign up.
Boys basketball camp (for Avon boys going into grades 1-6) will take place at the Avon High School main gymnasium June 9-12. Grades 1-3 are at 8-10:00 a.m. Grades 4-6 are from 10:00 a.m.–12 p.m. Cost is $50.
Girls basketball camp (for Avon girls going into grades 2-8) will take place at the Avon High School main gymnasium June 16-19. Grades 2-4 are from 9-11 a.m. Grades 5-8 are from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. Cost is $60. Each camper will receive a T-shirt, ball and a pass to all home varsity girls basketball games.
Football camp (instructed by Coach Elder and his varsity coaching staff) is for the Avon boys going into grades 1-6 at the Avon football facility at Avon Middle School June 16-19 from 9-11 a.m. Cost is $50. Each camper will receive a T-shirt.
Volleyball camp (for Avon girls entering grades 4–8) will take place at the Avon High School main gymnasium June 23-26. Grades 4– 6 are from 9–11:00 a.m. Grades 7-8 are from 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. Cost is $60 and includes a T-shirt.
The Avon football skills specific camp is run by the Avon High School football coaching staff. The purpose of this camp is to allow players to focus on the fundamentals of playing a specific offensive and defensive position of their choice. This camp (for Avon boys entering grades 3-6) takes place July 14–17 from 10 a.m.–12 p.m. at the Avon football facility (behind Avon Middle School). Cost is $50 and includes a T-shirt. Please bring a water bottle labeled with child’s name. Registration ends July 4.
Avon Tot T-ball
The Avon Parks and Recreation Department is now taking registrations for summer Tot T-ball. The program is for Avon children ages 3–5 years old. Choose from a weekday morning two games per week league or a Saturday one game per week league. Bob-O-Link Ladies Golf League

11th annual Avon summer tennis camp
The 11th annual summer tennis camp at Avon High School, conducted by boys varsity coach Art Gibbs, girls varsity coach Caroline Hughes and assistant coaches Donald Svenson and Clyde Alexander, will take place June 9-June 20. After these two weeks, the camp continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays until July 31. Group I (boys and girls entering grades 6-7) will take place from 1-2:30 p.m.; Group II (for boys and girls entering grades 8-9) takes place 2:30-4 p.m.; Group III (for boys and girls returning from 2013 summer camp and for JV or varsity team members who want some instruction) takes place from 4-5:30 p.m. Cost of the camp is $85 ($2.50/hour for 33 hours of instruction). Avon Soccer League Association registration
The Avon Soccer League Association is now open for registration into the fall 2014, spring 2015 soccer season. Avon soccer is now registering players for the recreation league. All players ages 3-14 are welcome. In addition to the many game play opportunities, Avon soccer offers extensive soccer training and development programs with our staff coaches. Parents are encouraged to register as volunteers and assist in league administration or as a parent coach. Tri-Bay golf outing
The yearly Tri-Bay golf outing will take place at Sweetbriar Golf Course in Avon Lake June 13. Registration takes place from 7:30-8 a.m. Golfing is from 9 a.m. To 3 p.m. Cost is $105 per golfer, which includes 18 holes, golf cart, breakfast, appetizers, beverages, dinner and prizes. Golfers must be at least 21 years old to participate. Always well attended, the gathering of Bay supporters and golf lovers join together each year for a specific cause; the fundraiser is dedicated to raising funds to assist The Bay Education Foundation, the Bay Alumni Foundation, and The Bay Rockets Athletic Boosters. Shoremen football skills camp
Registration is in progress for the Shoremen football skills camp. This program is for all boys entering grades 2-7 in September. Registration is now open for the fall 2014-spring 2015 Avon Lake Soccer Organization in-house recreational soccer program. Gaelic football team seeks athletes
Cleveland St. Jarlath Gaelic Football will begin its spring indoor training in March and welcoming all local athletes (18 and older). Gaelic football is a mixture of soccer, rugby, basketball and is played on a field similar to soccer. St. Jarlath has its home field based in Avon Lake. Bay High Soccer Champ Camp
The Bay High girls soccer team is sponsoring its 2014 Bay High Soccer Champ Camp June 9–12. Don’t miss this annual camp for girls going into grades 1-8 in the fall.
