Avon

Little Eagle Wrestling

For Avon students in grades K-2, this program is a great way to let your child experience the wonderful sport of wrestling in a fun environment. The emphasis is on learning the fundamentals of wrestling and playing wrestling related games – not on wins and losses. K-2 Little Eagle Wrestling is for the novice wrestler with little to no wrestling experience. Sessions are Monday nights 6-7 p.m. in the AHS wrestling room Nov. 4-Dec. For additional information and registration go to www.cityofavon.com.

Avon lacrosse

Lacrosse is coming to Avon. The much anticipated Avon Youth Lacrosse Association is gearing up for its 2014 inaugural season and is proud to introduce the country’s fastest growing team sport to the Avon Eagle portfolio. Parents are invited to an informational meeting Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Avon Middle School. During this orientation you will meet the staff and coaches, hear an overview of the game of lacrosse and the equipment needed to play and learn about the teams that make up the newly formed West Shore Lacrosse Conference. For spring 2014, there will be boys teams in three divisions: bantam (third and fourth grade), youth (fifth and sixth grade) and middle school (seventh and eighth grade). Beginners are welcome. We are working to establish a girls’ Lacrosse program at the Middle School level. Registration will begin after the meeting. For more information or to be involved, please visit www.avonlacrosse.org.

Bay Village

Bay lacrosse hosts fundraiser party

The Bay Village Lacrosse Association will sponsor its second annual Football Watch Party fundraiser featuring the Ohio State vs. Penn State game Oct. 26 from 7:30-10:30 p.m. at the Copper Cup (680 Dover Center Road in Westlake). In addition to the OSU game, there will also be a live feed to a local high school football game.

In addition to football, a lot of lacrosse will be on tap at this fun-filled fall event. The BVLA Football Watch Party will feature a 50-50 raffle, football squares games and a silent auction with items ranging from lacrosse gear to sports collectibles and local merchant donations. In addition, a wheel barrel laden with a variety of adult beverages will be raffled off at the event. Door prizes will also be given out. Ticket cost is $30 per adult or $55 per couple. Ticket price includes beer, wine, soda and heavy appetizers during the game. For more information or to purchase tickets, call Mike Voll at 440-570-4263 or e-mail mike.voll@conxx.net.

Event proceeds will benefit BVLA to help fund the group’s capital equipment drive, support Bay Village boys and girls lacrosse programs and provide lacrosse scholarships to student athletes in need.
