The Fairview Park Chapter of the League of Women Voters – Cuyahoga Area will sponsor a candidates night from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 19 in the City Council chambers of Fairview Park City Hall, 20777 Lorain Road.
A contested race in which three candidates are vying for two Fairview Park City Schools Board of Education seats in the Nov. 5 election is expected to be the focus of the event.
Two current members, Mark St. John and Joslyn Dalton, and one newcomer, Tanya Foose, are seeking full, four-year terms on the board.
St. John, a seventh-grade science teacher at Independence Middle School, was first elected to the board in 2007 to complete an unfinished term. Dalton, an adjunct faculty member and compliance coordinator in the health information technology program at Cuyahoga Community College, was appointed to the board in June 2012 to fill a vacancy. Tanya Foose, the director of admissions at ITT Technical Institute, is the newcomer.
In a separate race, Katie Davis is running unopposed to complete the two years of an unexpired term.
