Rocky River High School junior Eva Schneider has a jump on continuing both her athletic and academic careers, as she has recently made a verbal commitment to accept a full athletic scholarship to play soccer for Valparaiso University. Schneider has been a starting defender on the Pirates girls soccer team since she was a freshman, and helped the Rocky River team to the state Elite Eight in 2011, and the Sweet 16 in 2012.
Schneider currently plays for the Cleveland Futbol Club U16 team, in Medina, and has done so since the age of 14. Her CFC team recently finished in the semifinals of the Regional Cup in Des Moines, Iowa, missing a bid to play for the National Cup by one victory. She has played soccer for more than 10 years, starting her career in the Rocky River Recreation league at age 5.
She has earned honorable mention honors from the Greater Cleveland Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association, and received the Rocky River Patrick Burke Team Award. Schneider is listed as having a 4-star rating by TopDrawerSoccer.com.
She participates in the honors program at Rocky River High School, completing Algebra I and II, geometry, earth science, biology, chemistry, world history and language arts before her junior year.
