Relay Ready to Roll: The Rocky River Relay for Life will hold a committee meeting today at 6 p.m. at Rocky River High School in Room 202. Plans will be finalized for the community kickoff as well as a visit to Hope Lodge. Details of the 2011 Relay will also be discussed, all in under an hour. All are welcome. Learn to Skate: Let the kids (and grownups) try out new ice skates they got for Christmas. Registration is now underway for Learn to Skate sessions 3 and 4 at the Hamilton Ice Arena. Beginning Jan. 3, lessons will be available for all ages and ability levels. Offerings are on Tuesday and Thurday evenings as well as late Saturday mornings. Tot classes for 3- to 5-year-olds will be held on Monday afternoons and Friday mornings. The six-week sessions are 30 minutes in length for tots, and 40 minutes for ages 6 and older. All children receive a coupon for six free skate admissions to practice their moves. Fees for tots are $38 for residents and $50 for non-residents. Basic and freestyle classes cost $45 for residents and $56 for non-residents. Rental skates are available.

            Register at the ice rink cashier’s booth Monday and Wednesday 12:30 pm to 3 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday 11:45 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday registration is 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit www.rrcity.com/rec.

 

Skatin’ Santa: Santa Claus is coming to town Saturday – on ice skates. A special skating session will be held from 5:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at Rocky River’s Hamilton Ice Arean, 21018 Hilliard Blvd. Children will have a chance to visit with Santa while skating and enjoy free goodies.

            Admission to the annual event is $5.50 for adults and $1.50 for children under the age of 5 with a paying adult. Student admission is $4.50. Skates will be available for rental for $2.50. For further information, call (440) 356-5656.

 

Set the DVR: The Magnificat High School Vocal Jazz Ensamble will perform on Channel 3′s “Good Company” show on Monday. Tune in for holiday favorites to a jazzy beat.

 

Calling All Seniors: Rockport Independent and Assisted Living, 20375 Center Ridge Road, is offering a full calander of events for December, including a performance by the Avon Lake Women’s Choir today at 2 p.m., and a musical show from the Notables on Friday at 2 p.m. Browns fans can don their orange and brown at a football party on Sunday at 1 p.m. as the Browns take on the Cincinnati Bengals. Enjoy hotdogs, popcorn and, of course, the game on a big screen TV.
