NEW CHAMBER OFFICERS, BOARD: At its January luncheon, the Rocky River Chamber of Commerce named its 2012 officers and board of directors.

SWEET EVENTS FOR SENIORS: Ever hear an Irish polka band? Come to the Harbor Court tomorrow at 2 p.m. and hear a unique musical combination.
Enjoy a Valentine’s Day party with Join the Band on Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. You’ll hear favorites from the 1940s to the present, with lots of audience interaction, including the distribution of small instruments for the audience to play along with the band.

EQUATION FOR SUCCESS AT KENSINGTON: Fourth- and fifth-graders from Kensington Intermediate School recently participated in the Northeast Regional Academic Games Equation Tournament. Of the 27 teams from eight participating districts that included students in grades 4-8, the Kensington team collectively earned the most points and the first-place trophy. In addition, Andrea Lasher and Aoife Zuercher placed second and third, respectively, in the fourth grade individual division. Other team members included John Hanrahan, Lee Homig, Kira Katterie, Jack Sierputowski, Ryan Boettcher, Lauren Gifford, Tommy Kelly, Christopher Read, Mollie Tirpak and Melissa Ulcher.
At its January meeting the Rocky River Public Library Board of Trustees elected its officers for 2012.

RRPL TRUSTEE OFFICERS:

Catherine Manzo, who has been a trustee since 2001, was named president. Audra Bednarski was elected vice president and William Henson secretary.

YOU GO GIRLS: Magnificat High School is one of the sponsors of the first Go Girls Go! science workshop at the Great Lakes Science Center on Feb. 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This hands-on session for girls in grades 6-12 will be led by women working in science, technology, engineering and mathmatics. Cost is $32 ($27 for GLSC members) and includes lunch and a T-shirt. Call 216-621-2400 to register.
