Rockets 8U baseball wins Hudson Spring Classic

The 8U Bay Village Rockets travel baseball team won the 10th Annual Hudson Spring Classic baseball tournament in Hudson, Ohio. The Bay Rockets 8U travel baseball team won the Hudson Spring Classic baseball tournament by defeating the Brecksville Bees, 6-3, in the semi-finals and beating the Nordonia Knights, 13-2, in the championship Game. Overall in the tournament, the Rockets scored 35 runs, while allowing 11.  The Bay batters slugged 33 hits and their pitchers allowed only 13.

In the semi-final game, the Rockets scored 6 runs on 8 hits and their pitchers recorded 9 strikeouts. The Rockets entered the final inning trailing the Bees 3-2. They drove in 4 runs and closed out the inning for the win and advanced to the championship game.

In the finals, the Rockets scored 13 runs on 12 hits and their pitchers recorded 10 strikeouts. They jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead against the Knights in the first inning and added three more in the fourth to make it 5-0. In the fifth inning, the Rockets’ bats caught fire and they knocked in 8 runs for the tournament win.
