Family gatherings are right around the corner. The eighth annual Fabulous Food Show, Nov. 8 through Nov. 10, offers a great opportunity to taste, try and buy what is new for this holiday season.
This year’s show at the I-X Center offers exhibits by more than 450 companies and 100 live chef demonstrations on six different stages. Appearing in the 1,500-seat Main Kitchen Theatre are Martha Stewart and celebrity chefs Alex Guarnaschelli, Marcus Samuelsson, Hugh Acheson, Tom Colicchio, Jason Roberts and Sunny Anderson. The Fabulous Food Show Marketplace runs daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Discover new restaurants in the Taste of the Neighborhood.
The International Beer Fest, previously held in May, joins the fall food show this year. Close to 100 breweries will be represented. Features include the Real Ale Bar, Brew U Stage and the Meads & Ciders Pavilion. A grand tasting session has been added on Saturday from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. A highlight of the night is a “Concert in the Kitchen” starring recording artist G. Love and Special Sauce. A separate event ticket is required for the Grand Tasting and concert.
A Cleveland Culinary Awards Gala planned for Nov. 8 in the Grand Ballroom highlights some of the region’s finest cuisine. A four-course dinner presented by celebrity chefs Guarnaschelli, Acheson, Samuelsson and Roberts will feature local ingredients paired with local craft beer and wine. The gala offers an occasion for the region’s hospitality professionals to celebrate their peers. Awards will be handed out in achievement categories of Tri-C Hospitality Culinary Challenge Winner, Culinary Ambassador, Restaurant Vanguard and Beverage Trailblazer. A student competition winner will be determined on-site. Three other special honorees include food writer Joe Crea, restaurateur Carl Quagliata of Giovanni’s Ristorante and Patrick Conway of Great Lakes Brewing Co. Dinner preparation will be assisted by hospitality students from Cuyahoga Community College and Kent State University. A portion of the proceeds from the event will go toward culinary scholarships.
