Reddstone steps into the season with new menu, decor

Reddstone is stepping up its game this summer by introducing a revamped interior and brand-new seasonal menu.

Executive Chef Jeff James has added a variety of small plates, as well as some new flatbreads, sandwiches and burgers to the Battery Park restaurant’s repertoire. A few of the longtime menu favorites are back, but with a twist.

The patio at Reddstone, named one of Cleveland’s best by patrons, is the perfect place to share an appetizer of panko-crusted, chorizo-stuffed peppers ($8), or nacho chips with queso fundido for dipping ($10). Wing flavors include chipotle barbecue, wasabi ranch, ginger soy, zesty garlic and orange explosion ($9). The taco trio is three soft tacos filled with shredded chicken, sauteed shrimp and slow-cooked pork in house barbecue sauce, topped with lettuce, chopped tomatoes and cheese ($11). Our server also recommended the mussels and clams, steamed in beer ($8). Hong Kong noodles are a variation on Reddstone’s popular five-spice beef noodles, topped with beef medallions, Oriental veggies and fried egg ($12). Tempura vegetables are lightly battered and fried, and served in a Chinese carryout container with Shogun sauce ($8).

We were pleased to see the surf and turf flatbread on the menu ($17). A twist on Reddstone’s former surf and turf pizza, it is topped with shrimp instead of calamari, grilled beef, sriracha pomodoro sauce and fresh mozzarella. The Stockyard flatbread is garnished with bacon, ham, chorizo sausage and pepperoni, as well as pomodoro and fresh mozzarella ($15). The house flatbread is baked with pesto goat cheese and grilled chicken ($14).

The Powerhouse sandwich, served hot or cold, is pancetta, salami, ham, provolone cheese and hot peppers ($13). The Funguy is portobell0 mushrooms, greens, roasted red peppers and basil aioli ($12). The Reddstone burger is topped with bacon, bacon butter, a fried egg and Hoffman cheddar cheese ($12). The Big Sal burger is sirloin garnished with balsamic meatball pomodoro sauce, provolone, fresh basil and pickled hot peppers ($12). The Nola burger is Cajun-seasoned, with smoked bleu cheese, bacon and crispy onions ($12). Sandwiches are served with house fries, made with sea salt, truffle oil, cilantro and Asiago cheese, or Peruvian potato salad with eggs, celery salt and kimchee relish.

Reddstone, 1261 W. 76th St., is open daily for dinner from 4 p.m. to midnight. Sunday brunch is served from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is often entertainment, varying from DJs to live jazz, and stand-up comedy in the upstairs lounge. Major credit cards are accepted. Phone 216- 651-6969.
