West Shore Conference recap

The North Ridgeville football team dropped to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the West Shore Conference after last Friday’s 30-14 loss to rival Midview. The Middies improved to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the WSC.
Midview jumped out to a 14-0 lead before the Rangers got on the scoreboard. Jonah Bowden pulled North Ridgeville to within seven points after scoring on a 6-yard pass from Jason Lucas. Sophomore DeMario McCall tied the game up in the third quarter after scoring on a 53-yard touchdown run. Unfortunately for North Ridgeville, it was the final score of the night for the Rangers McCall led all rushers with a game-high 135 yards on 18 carries.
The Middies broke the 14-14 tie with a touchdown and safety to take a 23-14 lead. Midivew sealed the win with a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Bowden rushed for 66 yards on six carries. Lucas finished with 37 yards on seven carries. Lucas was 7-for-17 passing for 93 yards.
Avon remains undefeated
The Avon football team had little trouble taking care of Elyria Catholic, beating the Panthers 38-7 in league play. The win improved the Eagles to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the WSC. The Eagles led 28-7 at halftime and shut the Panthers out 10-0 over the final two quarters.
Gerrett Choat led the Eagles with 73 yards rushing on 11 carries. Tommy Glenn was 13-for-23 passing for 149 yards and two touchdowns. Braeden Friss had four receptions for 51 yards and scored one touchdown. Two of Rhys Ratino’s three catches were for touchdowns.
Rocky River wins in high-scoring contest
Rocky River and Lakewood combined for 84 points in the Pirates’ 49-35 win over the Rangers. Rocky River improved to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the WSC. Lakewood dropped to 1-5 and 0-3.
