Raise a toast to the new year at area celebrations

Ring in the new year in the style you choose at these area celebrations.

Downtown partygoers can celebrate on Public Square with Cleveland native son and comedian Drew Carey. He will deliver the countdown into the new year at “Cleveland Rocks New Year’s Eve 2013 – Electric Ice.” The festivities will include live bands, fireworks, a beer garden, ice sculpting and food trucks. The event will be broadcast live on Channel 19 from 10 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Here are some other area party options.

Around the Corner, 18616-20 Detroit Ave., Lakewood, 216-521-4413: Dance to live music by Pop Rocks and a DJ. There is no cover charge, and there will be free party favors.

Barley House, 1261 W. 6th St., Cleveland, 216-623-1700: An all-inclusive party from 10 p.m. to closing includes an open bar, hors d’oeuvres buffet, sparkling wine toast at midnight, party favors, music by a DJ and a light show. The cost is $85 in advance and $100 per person the day of the event.

Brothers Lounge, 11609 Detroit Ave., Cleveland, 216-226-2767: That ’80s Band is on stage into the new year. The cover charge is $20 a person.

Fairview Tavern, 21867 Lorain Road, Fairview Park, 440-799-4200: Dance into the new year at Fairview Tavern’s holiday dance party, with music by DJ Tony. A special holiday menu will be served, including the tavern’s famous prime rib.

Great Lakes Brewing Co., 2516 Market Ave., Cleveland, 216-771-4404: Drink a toast to the new year at “Brew Year’s Eve” in the brewpub. Festivities include live music by Becky Boyd, as well as DJs, a photo booth, heavy hors d’oeuvres and three beer or wine tickets for $60 a person. A cash bar will be available. There will be a special beer toast at midnight.

Pura Vida, 170 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, 216-987-0100: The downtown festivities continue on Public Square at Pura Vida. The doors open at 4 p.m. for dinner. Then, the party starts at 10 p.m. with assorted appetizers, an open bar, DJ, sparkling wine toast and 1 a.m. breakfast buffet. The cost is $100 with dinner reservations and $125 without dinner.

Ristorante Stella Mia, 28751 Center Ridge Road, Westlake, 440-250-2143: Dine on a three-course Italian meal and enjoy live music for $40 a person.

Stamper’s, 21750 Lorain Road, Fairview Park, 440-333-7826: The music starts at 9 p.m. with DJ Jim Stamper. There is no cover charge. A special holiday menu will be available. There will be party favors and a free sparkling wine toast at midnight. Reservations are accepted.

Vosh, 1414 Riverside Drive, Lakewood, 216-767-5202: Dave Brooks, the original lead singer of The Breakfast Club, will be on stage from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Party favors are included in the $15 admission. VIP packages are available.

Wagner’s of Westlake, 30855 Center Ridge Road, Westlake, 440-871-8800: Bring the entire family to enjoy dinner and entertainment by keyboard artist John Kowalski. Seatings are at 5:30 and 7 p.m. A holiday buffet includes carved roast beef, pork, kielbasa and sauerkraut, chicken with dressing, beef stroganoff, shrimp cocktail, assorted salads, sides and a dessert table. A cash bar will be available. The price is $26.95 for adults, $13.50 for youngsters under 10 years of age and free for little ones under 2 years of age.

87 West, 287 Crocker Park Blvd., Westlake, 440-250-2334: New Year’s Eve dinner begins with a surprise amuse bouche, followed by poached pear salad, lobster and saffron risotto, petite filet medallion, chocolate mousse and a sparkling wine toast for $50 a person.
