Sammy’s Restaurant, a popular fine dining destination in the Flats from 1980 through 2000, is being resurrected on PlayhouseSquare. The opportunity to open a new restaurant presented itself when Star Restaurant vacated the space at 1515 Euclid Ave. According to Sammy’s owner Denise Marie Fugo, the restaurant is in the process of being redesigned with a new entrance, a “salon” area in the front, bar in the middle and seating in the back of the space. Fugo said Sammy’s will be a destination dining establishment, featuring modern American cuisine, small plates, classic Sammy’s entrees and new signature dishes.
