Update: According to the library’s website, the library has reopened for full service this afternoon, Thursday, Jan. 9.
Westlake Porter Public Library is closed until further notice due to burst pipes, library officials announced Wednesday afternoon. The library suffered two occurrences due to the subzero temperatures, rendering the fire suppression system inoperable and making it unsafe to open to the public. Library officials stated that the library cannot open until the damage is repaired, the fire suppression system back in operation, and the resulting mess is cleaned up.
“We apologize for the inconvenience to our community, and are working to get back in operation as quickly as possible,” Porter Director Andrew Mangels said in a statement.
Announcements about the library’s re-opening will be made on the automated answering message on the main phone number (440-871-2600), the website (www.westlakelibrary.org) and posted to the library’s Facebook page and Twitter feeds.
