Pirates look to return to Columbus

The high school Division I and II boys state lacrosse tournaments started last week, and the No. 1-seeded Rocky River Pirates (11-2) hope to make a return trip to the Division II state championship game. Rocky River – ranked No. 17 in the state by www.laxpower.com – started the tournament with a first-round game against Padua on Friday. The winner of that game will move on to host the second-round game today at 7 p.m. Bay (10-5) won its Division II first-round game against Holy Name, 16-0. The Rockets will travel to play the winner of the game between St. Francis and Northview high schools today at 7 p.m. Westlake (7-9) lost last Thursday in a Division I play-in game to St. John's High School, 9-8.
