No one was injured in a freak accident Friday afternoon which resulted in the collapse of a garage behind a Rocky River condominum.
Five cars and other personal property, such as bicycles and tools, were buried beneath debris after a delivery truck attempting to turn around behind an adjacent shopping center struck the garage causing the collapse. Police say the driver will not likely be charged.
Fire Chief Chris Flynn credited the city service department with helping to remove the debris, adding that vehicle destruction was limited due to the accident occurring during the work day. “We were very grateful to discover that no one was in there,” he commented.
The condominium association estimates damage at $500,000.
