Church on the Rise is requesting the city grant a conditional use permit for a 100-bed nursing home on its property. If the request is granted, the church will sell about 7.5 acres to another entity that will own and operate the nursing home. The church currently owns 18.8 acres on Crocker Road.
Paul Endrei, senior pastor at Church on the Rise, declined to name for West Life the entity that would run the nursing home.
“It’s very early in this,” he said of the process.
In an application filed with the city last month, Endrei said the plan is to build the nursing home on the north side of the existing building, located at 3550 Crocker Road. The 70,000-square-foot facility would be one story in height.
During a Dec. 4 meeting of Westlake City Council’s planning, Zoning and Legislative Committee, Endrei said a buyer is in place for the 7 acres on which the nursing home is planned if the property is rezoned. In addition to the conditional use permit, the current church parcel would have to be split, city officials said. The committee unanimously passed a motion directing the city’s law department to draft legislation to grant the conditional use permit for council’s approval. The city’s planning commission would also have to approve the nursing home plans.
