The Westlake-Westshore Arts Council’s 15th annual juried art show concludes this Saturday with a “Meet the Artists” reception from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at Westlake Porter Public Library, 27333 Center Ridge Road.
The Community of Fine Arts show opened Aug. 4 at the library and featured 104 original works created by 44 artists. Works in the show, which are available for purchase, are displayed in the library’s Porter Room and the adjacent hallway.
Entries were accepted in four categories – oil/acrylic, watercolor, pencil/ink drawing and photography. The works have not been previously exhibited.
Jean Povinelli, who serves as chairwoman of the show, said each category received a significant number of entries.
Fifteen of the artists took time during the past month to demonstrate their skills in the library’s lobby, Povinelli said.
The winner in each category, who will receive a $150 cash award, will be recognized at Saturday’s reception. The judges for the 2014 show were Susan Gray Be, who teaches painting and drawing at the Cleveland Museum of Art and BAYarts; William Beuther, an award-winning photographer; and Mel Grunau, a charter member of the Ohio Watercolor Society.
