Police arrested four persons they say have been involved in a series of home burglaries in Westlake and the Westshore.

Two of the suspects – Stephen Zywotek and Chelsea Alurovic, both 25 and from Avon Lake – allegedly drove a red Jeep when breaking into a Glenbrook Court home Nov. 12. Jewelry and prescription medicine were taken in that theft, police said.

Later that same day, residents of Brahms Drive saw a red Jeep cruising the area, police said. An occupant of the vehicle went up to at least two homes and either knocked at the door or looked in the windows, witnesses reported. The suspects left when the residents answered the door or looked out the windows, the police report said.

The break in the case came when Avon Lake police informed their Westlake colleagues that the two had used a similar vehicle for burglaries in that city.

Zywotek and Alurovic were arrested Nov. 13 in connection with the Glenbrook theft. Police say the two, who they describe as heroin addicts, confessed to taking jewelry in two previously undiscovered thefts from homes on Mendelssohn Drive and Settlers Reserve Way. In those cases, the two took care to leave no trace of a break-in.

Police think the two may have conducted additional, undiscovered thefts in which jewelry was likely stolen.

The two were transferred to the Cuyahoga County jail and face drug and burglary-related charges.

A third suspect, 24-year-old Matthew Graff, of Cleveland, was arrested Nov. 16 in connection with those thefts. He faces complicity to commit burglary charges. Graff also had an active warrant from the Cuyahoga County Sheriff.

A man police describe as another accomplice, Doran Sutphin, 33, of Cleveland was arrested Nov. 19. He faces burglary charges and was transferred to the county jail that evening.

Police believe the quartet had committed additional thefts in Bay Village, Avon, and Avon Lake. Police in those communities have been advised by the Westlake Police Department.
