The Fairview Park City Schools Board of Education is expected to hire Geoffrey Andrews, the former head of the Oberlin City Schools, as its new superintendent at a special meeting Tuesday night.

Andrews, who grew up in Oberlin, currently runs the Western Academy of Beijing in China. He served as superintendent of the Oberlin City Schools from 2006 to 2011. At Oberlin, Andrews implemented the International Baccalaureate program. He previously was the technology director for Chagrin Falls Schools from 1991 to 1995 and assistant superintendent of Polaris Joint Vocational School District from 2004 to 2006.

According to the News Herald, Andrews was a finalist for the superintendent’s job at the Kenston school district but withdrew earlier this week.

Born in 1961, Andrews graduated from Dartmouth College where he majored in mathematics and economics. He later earned a master’s degree in computer science from Villanova University.
