Borders will host a family history workshop from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Promenade store. The program is sponsored by the city of Westlake, in partnership with ancestry.com and family historians from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Family historian Dorothy Titera organized the event as chance for people to begin or add to their family history. In as few as five minutes, an experienced volunteer can help an individual search for documents from the lives of one’s grandparents or older ancestors. Researches will have immediate access to FamilySearch.org and Ancestry.com and leave Border’s with resource information to continue their research.
Borders manager Sylvia Scherma, a Westlake resident, approached Community Services Director Joyce Able Schroth, about a possible partnership in celebration of the city’s bicentennial.
