Fred DeGrandis, President of the Cleveland Health Network and Chairman of the Cleveland Clinic Community Physician Partnership and Quality Alliance has been named Rocky River councilman at large. He will replace Anjanette Arabian Whitman who stepped down to accept an appointment to the bench of the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court.
DeGrandis, who has served as president of St. John Westshore (now St. John Medical Center), CEO and president of Cleveland Clinic’s Western Region Hospitals, and president and CEO of the Clinic’s nine Regional Hospitals began his career in medical leadership as the first in-house counsel for Lakewood Hospital, where he also served as interim CEO and president in 1984.
Chosen from a field of 15 other applicants, DeGrandis says he will draw upon his experience of 12 years on the Rocky River School Board, where he served for 12 years, 1992-2003. “It’s great to be intimately connected with my city again, ” commented the lifelong resident. He added that his immediate goal is the maintenance and elevation of quality city services.
DeGrandis will be sworn in by Mayor Pam Bobst at tonight’s City Council meeting at 8 p.m.
