The next Avant-Garde Art & Craft Show will take place at LaCentre Conference and Banquet Facility, 25777 Detroit Road, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 14.
Becki Cooper founded the series of shows in June 2011 with the idea of offering unique art that deviated from that exhibited at the stereotypical art and craft show. No show is the same, Cooper said, adding that each consists of a variety of unconventional and creative artists selling interesting products, such as stained glass art, vintage jewelry, bath and body products, photography, trendy accessories and apparel.
“With the show line, I really wanted to create a unique experience and event that featured handmade products from local artists and crafters that represented a new generation of art and craft shows,” Cooper said.
Admission to the show costs $3; children under 12 are free. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Drink Local, Drink Tap, a local nonprofit that works to educate people about local water sources and also helps orphanages in Uganda gain access to clean drinking water.
