Congratulations to Westshore All-Ohio track and field athletes

The high school track and field season culminated on June 8, in Columbus, with the state championships. The Westshore area had many individuals competing, and the St. Edward High School boys team took home another Division I state championship (62 points), over second-place Pickerington North (47) and third-place Mason (39).

West Life would also like to congratulate the Westshore area individuals who earned All-Ohio status by finishing in the top eight in their event:

Boys

Division I

Aaron Zedella (St. Edward) – state champion in the shot put (61-4.5); state champion in the discus (196-6)

Steele Wasik (St. Edward) – second place in the 110-meter hurdles (10.91); second place in the 300 hurdles (36.91); sixth place in the 4×400-meter relay (3:20.51)

Anthony Young (St. Edward) – fourth place in the 100-meter dash (10.91); sixth place in the 4×400-meter relay

Shaun Crawford (St. Edward) – fifth place in the 200-meter dash (21.95)

Frank Schenkelberg (St. Edward) – sixth place in the 4×400-meter relay

Soloman Warfield (St. Edward) – sixth place in the 4×400-meter relay

Division II

James Fell (Bay) – eighth place in the 4×800-meter relay (8:01.73)

Isaac Mertic (Bay) – eighth place in the 4×800-meter relay

Matt Orr (Bay) – eighth place in the 4×800-meter relay

Zach Baumgard (Bay) – eighth place in the 4×800-meter relay

Girls Division I

Maddie Britton (Bay) – fourth place in the 3,200-meter run (10:49.50)

Becky Szabo (North Olmsted) – sixth place in the long jump (17-5.5)

Allison Duber (Olmsted Falls) – sixth place in the 400 run (56.30)

Olivia Bechtel (Bay) – seventh place in the 400-meter run (56.55)

Madison Connelly (Rocky River) – seventh place in the 800-meter run
