People traveling on Columbia Road will see a major traffic pattern change in the construction zone portion of the roadway in North Olmsted for at least two weeks beginning May 1, city and county officials said.
North Olmsted Safety/Service Director Scott Thomas said traffic in the Columbia Road resurfacing project area will be northbound only from the intersection of Columbia and Butternut Ridge up to the Columbia and Lorain roads intersection. All southbound traffic will be detoured west to Great Northern Boulevard, then south to either Brookpark Road or Butternut Ridge’s Columbia road access for at least two weeks.
Thomas said the altered traffic pattern will be from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays. Regular traffic patterns will run from after 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. on weekdays, and all day on weekends.
Westbound left turn lanes will be closed on Lorain and Brookpark roads will be closed during project work hours. Signs will be posted throughout the area to guide travelers during this portion of the work. Parking on Columbia Road during the day or evening for the duration of the project, Thomas said. Unauthorized vehicles will be towed.
