Mothers looking to update their wardrobes will have a new place to shop this spring.
Hot Mama, an upscale boutique geared toward moms, announced it has signed a lease to open a store at Crocker Park. The new store will be Hot Mama’s sixth location in the state but first in Northeast Ohio. The Minnesota-based company has 30 stores in 11 states.
With her husband, Michael, Megan Tamte founded Hot Mama eight years ago after being dissatisfied with clothing marketed toward young women. Department store fashion no longer fit the “altered body” becoming a mom gave her, she said.
“I need clothes that are quick and easy to wear that can take me from a board meeting, to my son’s baseball game, to a date night with my hubby,” Tamte explained on her company’s website, shopmama.com.
Hot Mama was created to be an upscale yet down-to-earth boutique that offers contemporary designer clothing and premium denim perfectly suited for a mom’s age and lifestyle, company executives said. A recent survey indicated half of Hot Mama’s customers are in their 30s, while 40 percent are 40 or older.
Hot Mama’s sales have more than doubled during the past two years, the company said. The new Crocker Park location will be one of 12 new stores the company plans to open in 2013.
