Bar Louie has a record turnout for Crocker Park opening

Record-setting temperatures and the St. Patrick’s Day holiday created a perfect-storm environment for the opening of Bar Louie at Crocker Park on March 17.

“The grand opening was amazing,” Bar Louie Marketing Manager Ashley Kounz said. “It’s not often that great weather, St. Patrick’s Day and March Madness arrive together like they did this year. We had a really great showing. We were very impressed with the people who came to the restaurant for the opening, and with the wonderful staff.”

Kounz said Texas-based Bar Louie now has three Cleveland locations, and each is unique. The other two restaurants are at Legacy Village and in the Warehouse District on West 6th Street. “Bar Louie has a big sense of community,” she noted. “We adapt well to the neighborhood.”

“Another thing that sets Bar Louie apart is that everything on the menu is made on site, from scratch, with fresh ingredients,” she said.

The most popular menu item, according to Kounz, is the signature Luigi shaved rib-eye steak sandwich ($11). Top-selling appetizers are the pretzel sticks ($8) and chicken nachos ($11), she said.

Other appetizers are shrimp skewers served with honey chipotle sauce ($10), hand-battered calamari served traditional style with cocktail sauce ($10) or Buffalo style with bleu cheese dressing ($11), and popcorn made with truffle butter and Parmesan cheese ($10).

The Bar Louie burger is topped with provolone cheese, grilled onions and Italian giardiniera relish ($10). The Chicago Stockyard burger is garnished with mushrooms and Parmesan-bleu cheese sauce ($10.50).

The sandwich selection also includes sesame-crusted ahi tuna with ginger mayonnaise ($12), shrimp or fish po’ boy ($10), applewood-smoked bacon and fried egg on multigrain bread ($8) and the Mario Italian hoagie with ham, salami, pepperoni and provolone ($9.50).

Large plates include beer-battered fish and chips ($13), Tuscan chicken and pasta with Alfredo sauce ($13), Voodoo blackened chicken with andouille sausage over rice ($12) and Mediterranean-style seared salmon ($14.50).

All three Cleveland locations feature $1 burgers every Tuesday after 5 p.m.

In addition to specialty cocktails like the Diva pineapple and pomegranate martini, Bar Louie offers more than 20 wines by the glass and an extensive selection of microbrew beers. Bar Louie is open daily for lunch, dinner and late night dining, from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., with the entire menu available until closing. Happy hour food and drink specials are offered Monday through Friday between 4 and 7 p.m.

Kounz said the Crocker Park restaurant will also be testing out live entertainment, including acoustic, small bands and DJs, on weekends and later during the week as well.

Bar Louie is at 9 Main St., in the former Blake’s Seafood Restaurant location.
