A developer is hoping to build a 100-bed assisted living facility at the site of a former trailer park. Omni Property Companies is seeking a conditional use permit for the facility, which it intends to build on land formerly occupied by Schneider’s Mobile Homes, located between Westwood and Center Ridge roads.
The mayor envisions the Westlake Welcome Center as a satellite facility for the Westlake Police Department. The facility will also serve a public relations function for the city, the mayor said, as a place where people can obtain information about the community and pay utility bills.
A roundabout is one solution proposed for the intersection of Canterbury and Center Ridge roads, which now has the highest rate of accidents in Westlake. The other option for the intersection would be to widen Center Ridge to add a turning lane.
The district sent an invoice for that amount to the Ohio Department of Education. According to the invoice, the $2.6 million figure represents the total amount of money deducted from the Westlake City Schools to fund charter schools from 2003 through 2015. The district’s invoice is seeking $518,844.76 for 2015 alone.
