Dogs allowed in municipal parks starting May 1

The new ordinance requires that dogs be kept 30 feet away from playground equipment to prevent dogs from approaching children who may be afraid of the animals. The dogs are also restricted from coming within 30 feet of the splash pad and pavilion area at Morton Park and 30 feet from athletic fields when in use.

Westlake sophomore’s second film festival short advocates small deeds for the environment

In her short film “Just One Drop,” Westlake High School sophomore Katie Cirincione uses the image of a leaky faucet both as an example and a metaphor for small environmental problems that, if properly addressed, can have a huge impact.

Clough: Westlake still wants multiple water suppliers

The film tells the Arab immigrant experience through interviews with several prominent Arab-Americans, including former U.S. Sen. George Mitchell, “MASH” actor Jamie Farr, retired U.S. Gen. John Abizaid and consumer activist Ralph Nader.
