A roundabout is one solution proposed for the intersection of Canterbury and Center Ridge roads, which now has the highest rate of accidents in Westlake. The other option for the intersection would be to widen Center Ridge to add a turning lane.
The district sent an invoice for that amount to the Ohio Department of Education. According to the invoice, the $2.6 million figure represents the total amount of money deducted from the Westlake City Schools to fund charter schools from 2003 through 2015. The district’s invoice is seeking $518,844.76 for 2015 alone.
Fairview Park’s Lorain Road business district is beset with vacant storefronts at least in part because other successful retail centers are located nearby, a Northeast Ohio real estate broker said.
The plan is expected to outline goals in five areas – finance, curriculum and technology, facilities, communications and partnerships, and culture and environment. District leaders launched the planning process in the fall when they determined that additional community input on the district’s overall direction was needed before proceeding with a facilities plan for the elementary schools.
