Located on Center Ridge Road, just east of the entrance to the Westlake Recreation Center, the Lilly Weston House has been vacant for many years. Built for Austin and Roxanna Lilly, two settlers from Massachusetts, the house was later owned by several other people, including George Weston. About a decade ago, Alice Ladanyi, the great granddaughter of George Weston, deeded the house to the city of Westlake for use as a museum.
The locations of Westlake Historical Society functions are not limited to the Clague House Museum or Westlake Porter Public Library.
Longtime customers who flocked to the restaurant Sunday night managed to maintain a festive mood despite their hangout’s impending closure. A live band made up of favorite musicians and friends, including Jeff Varga, Stamper’s regular Sunday night act for the past four years, entertained the crowd with a high-energy performance.
A forecast of thunderstorms forced the Westshore Relay For Life indoors to the auxiliary gymnasium of Westlake High School Saturday. But patients, caregivers and supporters continued the fight against cancer at the American Cancer Society fundraiser encompassing the communities of Westlake, Bay Village, Avon, Avon Lake and beyond.
