Wagner one of two finalists for Fairview superintendent position

Interim Superintendent Bill Wagner is one of two educators the Fairview Park City Schools Board of Education is considering for the district’s permanent leadership post. The other finalist is George Fisk, who since 2012 has served as the superintendent of the East Palestine City Schools.

Westlake High named International Baccalaureate World School

Westlake High School was recently named a International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. Through a shared services partnership, IB courses taught at Westlake High School will be open to students from partner public school districts in Avon Lake, Berea and Rocky River.

Permanent improvement levy to be on May ballot

Money raised through permanent improvement levies can only be used for capital projects with an expected life of five years of greater. Examples are building repairs; technology infrastructure, such as computers and networks; and safety and security enhancements. Permanent improvement dollars may not be used to pay employees’ salaries and benefits.

Democrats must focus on issues, organization, new chairman says

The Ohio Democratic Party can recover from its disastrous showing in statewide elections this past fall, and it new chairman, David Pepper, said he has a plan to do so. Pepper shared his plan with the Westlake Democratic Club at its Jan. 20 meeting at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 25.
