Despite the passage of the Affordable Care Act, many families are forced to choose between paying utility bills and purchasing needed medications, officials at North Coast Health report. Located in Lakewood, the faith-based charitable clinic has provided primary care, prescription assistance and health education to individuals and families in need for the past 28 years with the help of physicians, nurses and other medical professionals who have volunteered their time.
North Coast Health’s annual fundraiser, the Celebration of Caring, will take place from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday at LaCentre Conference and Banquet Facility in Westlake. The organization’s goal is to raise $150,000, or more than 10 percent of NCH’s annual operating budget.
Tickets to the event – which includes a cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres, dinner and dessert, awards presentation, a live auction and raffles – cost $125 each and can be purchased online at www.northcoasthealth.org/celebration.
In connection with the fundraiser, NCH is sponsoring a summer vacation raffle in which the winner can choose between a seven-night luxury stay in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, or a four-night golfing package in Arizona. The winner may also select a $3,500 travel voucher to Independence Travel in lieu of the prepackaged trips. Raffle tickets are one for $25, three for $50 or eight for $100 and can be purchased at www.northcoasthealth.org/celebration or by calling the North Coast Health Development office at 216-228-7878 ext. 114. The winning ticket will be drawn at Thursday’s gala.
Honorary chairs for the event are Chris and Sandy Haas. Event co-chairs are Wendy Kieding, Kathe Serbin, and Carol Sterba.
