After losing the second and third games of the season, the Fairview High School Lady Warriors have rattled off 17 straight victories, including Saturday night’s Division II home playoff win over Buckeye, 46-21.

Once again, senior Katie Smith led the way with 12 points, putting her a mere 26 points away from the school’s single season scoring record.

Going into Saturday’s contest, Smith was averaging 18.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 4.1 steals per game.

“What else can she do?” Fairview head coach Bill Harvey asked in jest.

The Warriors led 17-0 after the first quarter and never let up, scoring 15 in the second, eight in the third and six in the fourth quarter. Fairview’s defense not only held Buckeye scoreless for the opening quarter, but only let the Bucks score one field goal in the fourth quarter.

Kelsey Bilak also scored 12 points for the Warriors, all by the way of the 3-point shot.

With the victory, Fairview moves on to the sectional finals against Padua tomorrow night.
