What direction should the Fairview Park City Schools take in the next decade and beyond?

Board of Education members and other district officials want your input as they go about the process of selecting the next superintendent.

Brion Deitsch, who has led the district since August 2005, announced in November that he will retire at the end of July. The district has hired the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) to assist the district in its search for a new superintendent.

The district wants to hear from teachers, staff members and parent support groups about what qualities they would like to see in the next superintendent, school board President Joe Shucofsky said.

“We’re going to be obtaining information from all these different stakeholders to assist us in this search,” he said.

The district’s consultant, Kathy LaSota, will meet with these groups Tuesday. Gatherings of administrators, teachers and staffers will take place during workday hours. A meeting with boosters and other parent support groups is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the auditorium of Fairview High School, 4507 W. 213 St. A meeting for other parents and members of the community is set for 7:30 p.m., also in the auditorium.

The meetings will focus on three topics:

• major issues facing the district for the next three to five years;

• performance expectations for the next superintendent; and,

• personal and professional qualities to be sought in the next superintendent.

The district has also prepared

a brief online survey that stakeholders may fill out before March 10. The survey can be accessed through the district website at
