Incumbent Rocky River Municipal Court Clerk Deborah Comery rolled over challenger Jeanne Gallagher 11,686 to 6,997 according to the final count from the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections.
Gallagher has been a bailiff for Judge Kristen Sweeney for 4 years, and had strong union backing.
Comery, who was elected to her second 6 year term, began with the court in 1996 as an assistant clerk. She has been noted for completely upgrading the court’s computer system, and for helping keep it self sufficient.
In the City Council at large race, the only council race contested, challenger Brian Sindelar unseated incumbent Michael Harvey by a 2,483 to 2,323 margin. Sindelar also received more votes than incumbent Christopher Klym’s 2,478. Only David Furry, elected to his fourth term topped Sindelar, an attorney, with 2,916 votes.
Harvey, former chairman of the planning commission, was appointed to council 8 months ago after the departure of Anjanette Whitman. Klym was selected almost two years ago after the death of Councilman James Schieda.
