The Rocky River Chapter of the League of Women Voters, Cuyahoga Area, will sponsor a candidates night from 7 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 24 at the Don Umerley Civic Center, 21016 Hilliard Blvd.
The forum will open with Clerk of Courts candidates incumbent Deborah Comery, who is seeking a second six-year term, and challenger Jeanne Gallagher. Rocky River Municipal Court Judge Brian Hagan is unopposed in his bid for another six-year term.
Council at large candidates will follow, with incumbents Dave Furry, Christopher Klym and Michael Harvey each seeking another two-year term. They are being challenged by Brian Sindelar, currently a member of the city Civil Service Commission, for one of the three at large positions.
Ward council members Tom Hunt, Jim Moran (council president), Mike O’Donnell and John Shepherd are unopposed, as is Mayor Pam Bobst and law Director Andy Bemer.
School board members are also unopposed. Jon Fancher is seeking his second term, Kathleen Goepfert her third, and Jay Milano his second.
Candidates will give short statements on their credentials and the issues. The audience members will then have the opportunity to submit written questions, which will be screened and read by the league’s moderator.
