Once again, the Don Umerley Civic Center will transform into an informal town square as the Rocky River
Chamber of Commerce hosts its 11th annual Business Expo on Oct. 10 from 2 to 7 p.m.
For the admission price of a business card or ticket (free at locations throughout the city), area entrepreneurs and residents can get a taste of the offerings from more than 100 local exhibitors, including 12 restaurants. According to Liz Manning, chamber executive director, the event is the only show of its size and scope in the area, and “presents exhibiting businesses with a unique opportunity to stand out in today’s competitive business world.”
She expects attendance to top 1,000 again this year, as attendees take the opportunity to network and learn about new products, services and technologies that can help businesses grow.
Aside from the highly anticipated samples from local eateries, attendees can sample “adult beverages” during a wine and beer tasting from 4 to 7 p.m., during which local retailers will be selling a variety of fine wine and beer samples.
New this year will be valet parking, offered by the latest addition to the Rocky River business community, MVP Valet. For $5, expo goers can avoid the parking challenge for the well-attended event.
MVP Valet and its sister business, MVP Snow-n-Lawn, just cut the ribbon on new quarters at 20202 Center Ridge Road on Sept. 17. Founded in 2004, MVP Services LLC began as a valet service, and today operates in some of Cleveland’s most popular food and entertainment districts, such as East 4th Street, Little Italy and Ohio City. The business has recently expanded to include lawn care and maintenance, landscaping and snow plowing for residential and commercial clients.
Free offsite parking is available at St. Thomas Lutheran Church at 21211 Detroit Road, with entrances from Wagar and Detroit roads. A shuttle bus will run continuously between the front door of the civic center and the church parking lot. All exhibitors and attendees who use the shuttle will be entered into a raffle to win valuable prizes.
Brian Bott, co-chairman of the Expo committee, commented, “This is an exciting event; it’s a powerful five hours filled with high energy. Expo 2013 will feature a wide variety of exhibitors. It gives people a means to network, to increase business opportunities. We see many successful connections made at the Business Expo.”
The Expo’s platinum sponsor is Cox Business, and its gold sponsors are Tri-C, Cleveland Clinic Hospitals, Timan Custom Window Treatments, Normandy Retirement, Westlife, Cleveland.com and radio station WLFM-LP 87.7. Silver sponsors include First Federal Lakewood, Dollar Bank, Huntington, PNC, Dawson Companies, Giant Eagle, Hospice of the Western Reserve, Admiral Products, Aable Rents, Lytell Designs, Inside Business and Paychex.
